Sept 21 - 25, 2009

Still a steady stream of students needing login or edline information. Number of students seems to be dwindling a little.
Work with several teachers on using edline. These teachers were especially interested in using edline for giving assessments.
Created and presented a 90 minute edline inservice on Wednesday.

Sept 14 - 18, 2009

Still a steady flow of students needing either login or edline information. There has been a fairly large number of parents calling about edline information. Have to make sure they follow the proper channels before giving out any information.
Set up the Angel site for SHS professional collaboration. Enroll etire Sherando staff into the new Angel site. Demonstaight how the Discussion Board works in Angel at the faculty meeting.
Worked with a few teachers getting Angel courses up and running.
Help Deborah Carper sort through some video files for DECCA project some of her kids are working on.
Sept 8 - Sept 11, 2009

Pretty much same as last week. It is amazing the number of students that have come into the IT office who have forgotten their username, password, or both. Still helping out with teachers who are having issues with projecting from their laptops. Working with teachers a little more one on one concerning edline and angel. Most of these meetings are aimed at determining which course delivery system is best suited for them.
Tuesday the High School ITRT's met over at Millbrook to put our heads together about a few issues and ideas. Liz showed us a Wikki that she has been working on. It is an informational wikki to help teachers with frequently asked questions.
Met with John Nelson concerning setting up a Discussion area for professional collaboration within the Sherando community. Dana Larrick and myself were in the meeting to discuss options. We decided that an Angle site would proably best meet our needs. I was put in charge of creating the site and then reporting back to Mr. Nelson when it was completed so that Dana and I could show him how it would work.
Aug 31 - Sept 4
This was basically a keep everything running week. Even though we got every English class through the library getting kids on the computers I was constantly being called to help someone login or help them with edline. I was helping the ladies in the library with projector issues in the class rooms. Teachers were also coming for help with edline and angel since we did not have much time before school started to cover updates to these programs. There were also a few teachers with questions about video projects.

Kids Back in School

The first week kids were back in school was very busy. I spent 4 days in the Library helping the librarians log the students into the computers and getting everyone set up on Edline. English classes came into the 2 main labs of the library and students received their usernames and were allowed to create a password to log into network here at Sherando. Once on the computer I gave Activation Codes for edline to all who never activated an account last year. New accounts were activated and I tried to help anyone who could not remember their information from last year. Anyone who I did not have time to help had to sign a legal pad so that I could either change their password, screen name, or both.

ITRT First Week

The first week back to school consisted of meetings and helping teachers get things ready for the coming year. This includes helping them with laptop problems, video issues in their rooms, and any edline issues they might be having. I also take part in making sure the video studio is working before the year begins.
There is also a meeting with the new teachers to help them get up to speed using things like Groupwise, and Edline.
